Making Comics Less Beige

[Image description: A fake movie poster for a movie titled You, Me & Superman starring Daniel Henney as Clark Kent and Rashida Jones as Lois Lane.]

Clark Kent has only lived in Metropolis for two months, but he’s already dodged three dozen bullets, made enemies with the most powerful man in town, and been scooped by The Daily Planet’s star reporter.  But even more bizarre than the cake robberies and aliens, is a love triangle between his partner, himself, and, well, himself.

I am here by royal invitation. That awards me the rank of emissary and all the privileges of that title. If a member of my family is slighted in a public forum, I am within my rights to enact “Admonition by Combat”. In English, I believe it means I can kick the living hell out of anyone who talks smack about my people. Right?

tyndalecode:

Stacy Dash as Emma Frost. Because anyone would have been better than January it just works. (I’m vaguely convinced that Ms. Dash bathes in the blood of innocent virgins to maintain her beauty. I believe the Playboy shot was done when she was like 40 zomg. And as I sit here indulging in VH1’s Single Ladies I realise that four or so years later? SHE STILL LOOKS LIKE THIS.)

It will never happen but I’m liking some of the things I’m hearing about who they might cast for Wonder Woman.
edit: made the metal more gold-ish…

TROIAStarring Rashida Jones, Gina Torres, and Gael Garcia BernalSong: “Sweet Talk” by The Killers

In a world torn apart by war and social regression, there seems to be no more room for heroes. The Justice League has been torn apart by internal strife and no one, not even Wonder Woman herself (Torres), has been able to stem the growing tide of strife. Renouncing her superhero ways after growing suspicion from the public, Wonder Woman adopts her Diana Prince persona permanently.
But Diana’s younger sister, Donna (Jones), has other ideas. With the help of best friend Dick Grayson (Bernal), Donna creates a new crime-fighting force to take up the cause and destroy the evil that has infected the world.

Idris Elba for J’onn J’ones (Martian Manhunter)
Did anyone read that issue when somebody asks J’onn why his “human form” isn’t ever a Black person, so he becomes a Black guy for a day and at the end of the issues, decides he’s got enough problems being green and from Mars and afraid of fire, he’ll just stick to being a White dude, thank you very much?
Just me then? Ok…

I absolutely played Wonder Woman when I was a kid. I had the lasso, the whole bracelet thing, I even had my twirl down. I just knew that I was going to be taken back to Paradise Island, because that’s really where I belonged. I was this small little Amazon just waiting to express myself, waiting for my true mother to come and get me.

miloucomehome was inspired by Denzel Washington as Batman to cast Sidney Poitier as future!Bruce. I pretty mich flailed in her general direction and made an image. And so, by our powers combined, we suggest Sidney Poitier as future!Bruce Wayne from Batman Beyond. Because it would seriously be awesome.
